Button Badges or Enamel Pins for a Malaysian Event?

Compare printed button badges with custom enamel pins for an event: artwork, attachment, quantity, sample, lead time and delivered quote.

Round printed button badge with a safety-pin back beside a coloured metal enamel pin and butterfly clasp

The short answer: choose a printed button badge when a round, lightweight event giveaway and flexible printed artwork fit the job; choose a custom enamel pin when the shaped metal object itself is part of the keepsake. Do not select by the word “premium” alone. Compare the actual size, artwork, fastening and delivered cost, then approve a physical sample before ordering for a Malaysian event.

These are wearable souvenirs, not staff name badges for identification. If a badge must show a person’s name or role clearly, solve that reading and attachment requirement first.

My Lanyard Printing’s Malaysian product page describes its button badge as a full-colour printed tin-front item with a plastic back and safety pin, and lists hard-enamel metal pins separately. GiftMarket’s pin and badge range also lists custom enamel pins and tin button badges as different products. These are supplier examples, not a promise that every supplier uses the same materials, minimum order or turnaround.

Will your artwork survive at the chosen size?

For a button badge, place the important mark inside the supplier’s safe area rather than against the curved edge. For enamel, ask whether thin lines, tiny text or gradients can be made in the chosen process. A printed metal pin may be a third option if the approved enamel proof loses necessary detail. Send an editable master or clean vector where requested; the artwork-file guide explains what to check before handoff.

Print the proof at actual size. Check legibility at normal viewing distance, not only enlarged on a screen. Approve one finished sample with its backing and packaging, then keep that sample as the production reference. Test the attachment on the intended event shirt or bag; piercing, clasp security and weight matter more than a catalogue photo.

Quote the event handover, not just a unit price

Tell suppliers the quantity per design, item size, material, finish, attachment, individual packing or backing-card requirement, delivery postcode and date the items must be in hand. Ask when production starts, what proof or sample is included, and whether a mould/setup charge, tax and freight are separate. Minimums and lead times vary by model and supplier; verify the selected option instead of copying a general catalogue figure.

If the pins accompany shirts or delegate kits, count them in the event merchandise pre-order plan and specify how each guest receives one. You can include the badge or pin as a separate item in a BajuPrintz quote request; first confirm that the selected construction can be sourced. Approve the real sample and complete delivered quote before the bulk order.

Frequently asked questions

What is the main difference between a button badge and an enamel pin?

A typical button badge places a printed design in a round badge body with a pin back. A custom enamel pin uses a shaped metal base with coloured areas and a separate attachment; confirm the exact construction with your supplier.

Is an enamel pin always better for a detailed event logo?

No. Fine lettering, gradients and small details may need a printed alternative or simplified enamel artwork. Ask for an actual-size proof and sample in the proposed material.

Can guests attach either pin to any garment?

Do not assume so. Both may pierce fabric, and the weight and fastening differ by model. Test the finished item on the intended garment and offer a non-pin option where piercing is unsuitable.

What should a custom pin quotation specify?

Request the exact size, material and finish, attachment, artwork, quantity per design, proof or sample, packing, production trigger, delivery postcode and in-hand date, with setup and freight itemised.
